Minister Capresha Dawne Caldwell, Esq., affectionately known as “Pre,” gracefully entered Heaven, escorted by angels, on June 5, 2024 after valiantly battling health challenges she privately fought in faith.Capresha was born on March 18, 1976, to Mr. Dean Caldwell and Ms. Barbara Wilson of Conway, South Carolina.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8Capresha always ran her race with faith, integrity, and love. She lived life well and on her own terms even until the end.
Before she began carrying mini-books about the Word of God in her tote bag to share with everyone she met, she had a life-changing encounter with Jesus that left a lasting, positive impact on everyone who crossed her path.
Capresha attended Conway High School, where she excelled in both academics and athletics, graduating in 1994. Driven by a passion for learning, she earned an English degree from Winthrop University in 1999 and went on to receive her law degree from the University of Tennessee School of Law. Achieving her dream of becoming a licensed attorney, she passed the North Carolina bar exam and began her distinguished career in the federal government. Always an advocate for others, she found her home in law and believed her work represented the divinity of God.
While attending Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, a near death car accident in 1996 became the catalyst for Capresha’s profound spiritual awakening. In the aftermath of the accident, she embraced her faith, becoming a devoted Christian. Returning to Winthrop, she became a leader in the campus ministry, Abundant Life in Christ, guiding many students in their faith. Her impact was so profound that many of those students went on to become ministers, pastors, and bishops.
Capresha’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She became a devoted member of Victory Christian Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, and later, Centrifuge Church in Harrisburg, North Carolina, where she served faithfully as a licensed and ordained minister even until she took her final rest. Her mission was clear: to share her testimony and the Gospel wherever she went. Extending her ministerial reach to the written word, Capresha wrote and published a series of devotionals entitled, The Weekend Word, to encourage a deeper intimacy between God and her readers.
Capresha also became a licensed coach through HisCoach, helping clients know their Worth, prioritize their Health, embrace Opportunities, accept true Love, and continue to Evolve (WHOLE). She founded an online community, I Am a Whole Woman, leading monthly In His Presence Bible studies. Her final Bible study was two weeks before her death, where she taught about living a life on purpose.
Despite her health challenges, Capresha’s ministry flourished and her faith grew.
Although she was not married or had children, many remember her as a mother figure because of her guidance and care.Capresha loved the color purple, experimenting with vegan recipes, traveling, laughing, and relaxing in her recliners. She loved spending time with her godsons, nieces, and nephews, which were a testament to her vibrant life.
Capresha was given the solid foundation of a loving, devoted and caring family. She was preceded in death by family members who were instrumental in her rearing: her maternal great-grandparents Henry and Lillie Robinson, her paternal grandparents Delmar and Panchetta Caldwell, as well as her uncles John Wilson and Jackie Robinson, her aunts Janie and Beverly Ann Caldwell, and her cousins Bernard Robinson and Eugene Ward. Family members survived to cherish her memory include: her mother, Barbara Wilson of Conway, SC, and her father Dean Caldwell of Conway, SC; her maternal grandmother Molly Ward, of Washington, DC, and her sister Dasia Caldwell of Conway, SC. She also leaves her cousins, Mary (Michael) Johnson, Priscilla (Gregory) Dewitt, Gregory Dewitt, Jr., Gemar Dewitt and her godsons: Shamon Shalom, Shane Shalom, Shaker Shalom, and Shaun Shalom. She also leaves to cherish her spirit, an abundance of family and special friends in South Carolina, North Carolina, Washington DC, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, and overseas to remember her life. Her absence will leave an irreplaceable void, keenly felt by her beloved Charlotte Family.
Though she will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing Capresha has finished her race well. She is now at home with her Heavenly Father, healed, healthy, and whole. To God Be The Glory!
